Making a Global Impact for 80 Years

Founded in 1945, CARE began by delivering 100 million packages of food, clothing, and tools to families rebuilding their lives after World War II. Today, CARE works in more than 120 countries, fighting poverty and advancing equality — with women and girls at the center of lasting change.

Since 1992, CARE Balkans has stood alongside communities across the Western Balkans. What started as emergency response during the conflicts of the 1990s has grown into a long-term commitment to gender equality, social justice, and inclusion. We work to prevent gender-based violence, expand economic opportunities for women and marginalized groups, strengthen local leadership, and respond to crises while building resilience for the future.
